The Great Sickness

What is the great sickness of our days?

If I may so bold. . .

A person who feels they have no purpose is : The Great Sickness

When a person seeks out purpose for their life, defines it clearly and work towards it's fulfillment then there is a great degree of righteousness involved. Not righteous in a pious sense righteous in correct or true north compass sense.

When this measure is missing, when a person has not clearly defined their purpose then a great deal of confusion, hopelessness, and destructive apathy occurs.

So easy to provide proof. . .

Take an example of the individual who is clear that they desire to lead-

Lead for what purpose. It is predictable that if the purpose is not clearly defined the desire and responsibility of leading can corrupt very quickly the leader.

Then the leader who has purpose. A person has a desire to lead in order to provide a clear path for those who have not been endowed with the wisdom necessary to take on this "New Economy."

Who is more corruptible. I suppose it should be clear. Does the first leader fulfil his/her purpose at the moment they are leading and corruptible motives can set in to for example lead out of lust of power, to control, or for greed.

Sharp contrast the second purpose driven leader leads. The leader's objective of assisting others to become equipped is complete, this leader can look to replicate and assist many more. The purpose doesn't change the capacity to do more for others does as the leaders efficiency and blessings of growth increases.

Get clear about your purpose quickly and change this purpose slowly.

The Responsibility To Do Something

There is a huge trend in the world. There is an enormous amount of excuses that are constantly being found to shift responsibility.

The state of the economy is no reason to lay down and do nothing.

Leaders needed. . .

There are two ills that I intend to write on today that are ills of such a great force that ultimately they can lead to severe destruction.

Number One- It is a shame when a person will do nothing because they feel that what they do, does so little. Take the time to do good within your sphere of influence:

An example: I see when I go to one of my favorite Ocean views and surf spots. When you watch for a while as a surfer climbs out of the waves. The one who believes in the gift that is the ocean and it's state of well being you can see him/her pick up a couple pieces of litter off the beach and drop it in the big tin dumpster on the way in. This has become a pattern that perpetuates in this spot in particular, more and more do the same. It is noble it is right, it was not the cleaners trash, it was not the entire beach clean up it is right to do.

This leads into another evil: The person will do nothing if the blame can be shifted. Doing nothing is an action. It is a lie that many will tell themselves to attempt to stay neutral. When things get messed up because of the actions of a few. The world needs leaders to decide in spite of the causation of the problem.

For example: I have served on many committees that have been in a stuck state a stand still. The cause many times is the lack of ownership. The person who caused the problem is less important then the solution going forward has ever been. I suggest gain the desired result, have a vision and work backwards to the plan of execution. This has gone against the grain of many a majority who believe to get where we are going we must first point out who or what messed the situation up to begin with. This does nothing but causes a shift of responsibility and usually places committees into apathy when denial of ownership is possible.

Helping Others As A Reflex

What impresses me the most is not about the leadership from the front of the room. The board members that are stoic and unapproachable. What impresses me the most about a leader is not detachment.

The thing that impresses the most about leadership I am around is that they help as a reflex. . .

To walk side by side a true leader, one who draws on energy and a cause that is greater then him or herself is to be impressed that in their nature they very easily and unintentionally serve others and bring value to their lives.

If leadership truly is influence nothing more or nothing less. Imagine the positive influence someone has on the world as they set in motion quick acts of service.

You want an example of the power of this?

There is a powerful study that measured the effects of acts of kindness on peoples environments. Did you know that the person that does something nice for someone has chemicals released in their brain that rewards them, then the person receiving the kindness does as well have "feel good" chemicals released. The interesting thing is that the bystander watching the act has the same chemicals released and may naturally start a similar chain reaction elsewhere.

So say that there is a stranger struggling with their bags getting onto the plane, you could stop and assist the person you are boarding with is also rewarded as they witness this, models similar acts of kindness later on that day and you've set in motion something that is far greater then you.

Yes the kind of leaders I choose to follow don't lift themselves above others, they lift others needs above themselves.

Facebook Taboos, How to Lose a Friend in 3 steps

Facebook- a place to re-connect with friends you haven't seen for a long time. One of the fastest ways to find that person that you think about and wish you hadn't lost touch.

Facebook- a place to meet new people with common interests or interesting people with nothing in common and expand your horizons and shrink the worlds vastness.

Facebook- a place to network and bring value to peoples lives through a reccomondation if you have uncovered a need when a relationship has developed.

Now the 3 things that fills the can o' SPAM:

1) Invitations that have an invite/pitch of the product and services. Don't invite me with your canned ad junk. . . invite me with genuine interest. (Used Car Salesman Approach)

2) Pitches on first response to my invite or the communities invite. Get to know someone first. Chat it up make a connection especially in e-commerce world. Working the numbers will get you suckers, but customers stay out of loyalty. (Premature Pitch)

3) My wall is my wall, news feeds is the communities. Don't write your ad on my wall and pass it off as 'trying to help me out'. Outside the cyber world when someone tags up the wall it is called Graffiti this is why I dub this last one Graffiti Approach, expect to be reported!!! The least of which would be a warning from me and then the dropped friend next time.

If you agree share this around, if you don't agree comment, if you appreciate say so.

Love to my friends,

Fatigue

The great football coach Vince Lombardi once said: "Fatigue will make a coward out of any of us". It is safe to say that he saw the wide range of personalities throughout his coaching career.

Fatigue. Who hasn't experienced it?

There can be tasks that are small that are not completed when in this state of exhaustion. The mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual tiredness that appears when fatigue sets in are tough to triumph through.

Here are some suggestions I have come up with to combat it:

Mid-day workout (find creative ways to fit in 30 mins of intense exercise or stretching at the least)

Mid-day workout that is followed by a shower

Eat an apple, the apple has been found to actually be a stimulant.

Get outside for some fresh air. The stress will lower as you go for some open air.

Drink more water. Fatigue can be directly related to the amount of water one takes in.

Breathe. Stress contributes to fatigue. Breathing takes little time to do, but a good breathing session can help you feel like you re-started a new day.

Try to limit the stimulant traps of coffee, energy drinks and tobacco, they can get you through the week, but can actually do more harm in the long run where fatigue is related. The drop off when discontinuing these can be severe even within the day.

These are a few that I work on. There are many more. Take some time today to write down some for you. Share them with someone- it will help your commitment to overcoming fatigue.

Gratitude Pause

The greatest emotion for creating attraction. . .

Gratitude

The habit of feeling like there is not enough, that there is a void, fear, doubt, and any other emotion that wraps someone up in what I call the "funk" can be conquered by gratitude.

The exercise today is good temporarily or if it becomes a habit it is good long term and as the habit becomes a characteristic or a part of your character it can effect your destiny.

Stop spinning negative webs, stop for one moment, take out a pad of paper and a pen.

Write 10 things that you are greatful for right now:

1- I can see the computer screen
2- I have 3 beautiful kids that love me
3- I have a great career for my living and the best opportunity in the whole world for my families fortune
4- I walked into work today, some don't still have this capability
5- I am in good health
6- I know that I am on the path to greatness in all 8 areas of my life
7- I know from whom all greatness and blessings come
8- I have the ability to create leaders
9- I work with amazing people who cheer for success, seek it out and will find it
10- I have a supportive wife and she is the greatest person I could ever ask for, she is listed last here because she is deserving of all my love, she helps me grow, she helps me desire to get closer to my creator so I can become more and provide her more of everything.

If you can not put together 10 things then you are not sitting with a pen. There will always be 10 things at any time you can be greatful for. I promise. E-mail me if not we will get your mind right.

Become clear.

There are so many options in life. So many choices to look at. It is absolutely important to BE CLEAR.

The ideal customer, the ideal business partner, the ideal lifestyle, the ideal relationship. These are all choices that takes time to develop a preference for.

I can decide, for example, that the ideal relationship communication is respectful, one of honor, of gratitude, of patience. I could also decide not to define this. This is a simple choice everyday. I cannot change anothers action in the relationship to have the relationship be respectful, honoring, greatful, and patient. I can decide to be the change.

Too many times in life I have noticed if I am not working towards the vision of what is in my heart to work towards then I allow the world to define for me reality. The best advice ever given for change is- If you want something to change, be the change.

Nothing can cause apathy and feeling of defeat more then not seeing the direction we are heading in. You plot this course.

Get Clear. Decide what you want your life to look like the most. Ensure it is congruent with your values. Then spend the time making decisions that lead toward the realization of this. When you have a hazy vision of future get clear again and ask for help from your Higher Power. Get clear. Live today being pulled by the promise of tommorow.

The Magic Number

Do you know what the magic number is?

The amount of money Middle-Income America, the masses, would have had to make to prevent Bankruptcy this last year?

The monthly amount if they made just this magic number more they would have avoided bankruptcy?

What was this magic number?

$300 extra in a month

That's it. $300 more and financial defeat would have been avoided

It is so easy to understand that when a family is short $300 to go and put it on a credit card believing the next month will be better. Then it works and they can breathe that month, big problem, the behavior pattern is now set.

Rather then looking for opportunities to gain $300 people have been throwing bad money at debt.

What happened this last year is the behavior stopped working, people's credit limits dropped nationwide. All of the sudden the compounded behavior of throwing credit at monthly financial problems no longer worked.

Bankruptcy hits. . .

How could this have been avoided?

What is the two options one has?

Option 1 spend less- this is true many people over the past 10 years have been attempting to keep up with the Jones'. There is frivolous spending that has occurred. No surprises. Every family should come together and see what is necessary and what is desires. This is always a good idea. It is the basis for a financial statement. (different article different day to address option 1)

Option 2 make more income. Seems logical. Major Warning. When you make more you spend more. The new income must be treated differently.

Here is a suggestion-

Look at an opportunity(not a part time job) that will not take away from your full time career, can be done part time in other words.

Things to look for-
-$500 extra - that's 300 to make up the difference and 200 to save and invest
-Extra $500 is not a difficult task to make.
-A training program that you can show you how to make this income without fail with a few measures taken
-Opportunity to grow. Once you have mastered the extra $500 a month you will want to be compensated very well for showing a hand full of others how to master this

$500 is the new magic number, find the opportunity, few hours a week, $300 to cover bills and $200 to save or invest your lifestyle will not look the same in under a year I guarantee it!

Webcammax

Webcammax found on http://www.webcammax.com/ is an amazing program. I was first referred to it because I was speaking with one of the industry leaders about using chromakey or what may be referred to as green screen.

The effects of webcammax even the free trial version amazed me. The first thing I realized is that anyone using a webcam can set up a background of their choice either from their own library or that of the settings pre-loaded.

The next thing that I noticed that the masks and special effects are top to bottom cool. My kids enjoyed the Shrek face as well as many of the other characters, it is a beefy program set up to wow anyone who is unaware of the technology. Then there is a rival/competitive record my screen software built in that lagged a little but is still pretty cool. This rivals camtasia. The cost is not to steep, however an instructional video might be nice in order to feed some ideas to the person browsing.

I would be willing to put together some demo videos because the software is just that fun. The next part about this is the large grey effects properties on the trial version. For all the features the trial has it may be good to promote what is to come when you purchase this as a product. The ability to turn this into a video and load it up to youtube is a pretty good idea.

I work on some video conferencing and notice that I look forward to the creation process with this added tool in the tool belt. The amazing thing is hardly anyone knows about it.

I started my son’s Youtube channel with this site, it was very engaging for him and he is constantly on me about the chance to record his next video. He is 7 years old and products like these really give the next generation an opportunity to explore and take their imagination to the next level.
Drawbacks of the program are these:
A little lag time in recording The Picture in Picture feature may or may not be there still?
The record my screen needs to have the option of illumination of the cursor.
The Youtube feature didn’t seem to work, maybe I missed it but are the videos embedded? This would be a very good feature to have.

*** Number one drawback. There is no affiliate link, I have referred this product close 40 people already ****

Habits Lost Habits Gained

How quick is a habit formed?

I took a 3 day course by Stephen R. Covey writer of the book Seven Habits of Highly Effective People and the answer was 21 days, this number was confirmed again and again including by an individual who makes close to a quarter of a million dollars a year last night.

Imagine that, the author says it, the books say it, and even true life examples say it Mrs. Loren Mikeal confirms it.

Yet with all the proof a good habit is easy to gain and easy not to.

This is not all though. . . the main focus for this post is why is a good habit easy to loose once it is gained?

When pondering on this question this morning it appears some of my good habits fall off and go back to old ineffective behavior paterns for because of a natural force:

Gravity

To create a good habit goes against gravity, or in otherwords the force of the behavior before. The amount of time spent doing the old behavior was much greater then the 21 days. So after 21 days of applying it is a habit.

It is almost unconciously a habit after 21 days, but if you step away it will become greater and greater a difficulty.

If you decide to take a day away from the new habit formed keep yourself on course with 2 primary actions.

First plan your return and second share that plan with someone who will check back in with you.

Interview With Will Smith

YouTube It . . . -Trust Me-

There are certain items on YouTube that are absolute golden nuggets of wisdom, the interview Will Smith gave to Tavis Smiley on YouTube is well worth your time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pke9gEZfJXk

If you have lost all hope in actors, this will restore it for this man. You will hear in 6 minutes what some people in a lifetime don't understand.

"I am not afraid to die on a treadmill" say what Mr. Smith. In other words "I will not be outworked". This mindset keeps one out of the comfort zone. If I choose to let those who I know it is in my power to outwork.

"Decide" when we decide the Universe is going to get out our way.

When we are who we choose to be and we go full throttle at the idea or concept of who we are, then we are not going to allow others to define us. I would put it out that the treadmill that we run on is the same treadmill that either exposes each of us as a fraud or promotes us as a leader. We either decide each day to know our purpose and lead or shirk our purpose and fall behind.

Check it out for yourself:

Be Like A Duck

A duck looks so mellow on the surface of a pond smoothly gliding gracefully from one spot to the next. This is the part nobody but the duck gets to see. Calm on the surface and underneath the duck is working overtime. The legs are move fast, fast, fast.

The duck can teach a valuable lesson. Never underestimate what it takes to be successful. It will take massive action and activity. The part you witness of the individual who has it all will appear very much like the duck, however I can guarantee if you followed around this individual and for a month and compare there activities you will see below the surface the kick of the DUCK.

We have been inundated with examples to tell us otherwise, instant success, take this and immediately your results look different, the training sequence on movies that last only 2 minutes and the individual is a champion. Throw this philosophy away, it is an outright myth. The only true way to have more success is to become more.

When you become more then you are able to make things on the surface appear easy, but underneath better not stop those legs from churning.

This One Ingredient

There is one thing that is missing with most people who are not where there want to be in life today. This one thing can make a huge difference. This one concept will bring someone from the down and out to the down right dynamic.

What is it?

Enthusiasm. If you don't like your results you've been getting. Look at the attitude that you've had when you've been going about trying to achieve them.

You don't deserve what you want if you don't act like you are excited to get it.

If you don't know what excited, enthusiastic, passion looks like, become a student of it. There is nothing that I have found more to be more attractive then an enthusiastic person who is going about the most crucial activities with what appears to be endless energy.

The worlds obstacles seem to magically remove themselves out of the way. It is an amazing feeling.

To prove this climb on a bike and try to ride it real slow and see how fun it is. Then get on a bike and ride as fast as you can, feel the wind in your face, feel the strength of momentum, feel the exact opposite feeling of awkwardness. I am not kidding get on a bike today, if you don't have one go to a bike shop and test ride one. Who knows it may take an activity like this to wake you up if you've been walking around half dead in fear.

Enthusiasm is a gauge to be constantly aware of. If you don't have your meter set high enough you don't have a white hot burning desire for what you are attempting to do. If you need more excitement, act it, and you will feel it. Use any nervous energy as the fuel to get you going. Trust me it works.

Hard Work vs Productive Work

It is very easy to be busy doing tons and tons of work and be getting no results, and no where nearer to the goals you have set.

It is a form of fear. There is a time to plow and then there is a time to seed or sow the seeds in the field. Fear plays a role. I know a lot of people who are hard workers. They will work from start of the day until the finish. They are doing a whole lot of busy work.

I don't know what the seeds are with your life pursuits, but fear will cause your to work extremely hard on the things that matter least and allow your mind to be comforted as the things that matter most are neglected.

Take some time to slow down. "Slow to grow." Write down the 3 most important things about your job. Spend time thinking about how you can get these three things knocked out as early in the day as possible.

You will no longer do the small things out of fear you will do the small things that consumed your day out of momentum. When the 3 biggest most important tasks are out of the way. What I refer to as the "Main thing" then a whole new set of energy will carry you through the rest.

Try it. Write down and fill in the blanks. The three most important areas of focus today are ________, _________, and _________. If you have more make about the 3 most important tasks this morning are, and the 3 most important tasks this afternoon.

Partnership

There is an arrogance and a pride that exist that is beyond the "I can do this". Confidence is "I can do this", "arrogance is "I can do this all by myself".

If you have the mentality that you can do something all by yourself then a caution sign should be placed in front of you. Huge warning, rocks ahead.

I don't care how big and bad you are. One person is only going to be able to do so much. "You can tell the size of the person, by the size of the problem that gets them down." Jeff Olson.

I am going to be in your face for a second here and tell you that I have been searching for a leader that had no one. The leader who did it all by them self. I can tell you NO ONE ever has. I don't care who you give me. The leader does not exist.

I will say it is a law given by God himself that everyone must inter depend on each other to fulfill their full creation.

I will take this into passionate areas of mine. Starting with sports. Michael Jordan, had a coach, even when he had to go it alone and was shooting by himself after he was cut from the High School team. He was not pushing so hard to go solo into his dreams, he was pushing so hard to qualify for more supervision/coaching of his skills.

Even as I am writing this Michael Phelps is back to making his 5th gold medal in the World Championship of swimming after taking home the record of Gold Medals in the Olympics. He is back to being a fabled athlete having tested positive for Marijuana a few short months back. He is a solo athlete. He did it alone right? Wrong, wrong absolutely wrong. His 5th medal so far was on a relay team for one, and his coach was the father figure that made Michael Phelps so strong with his grueling workout schedule. Phelps did not even know what to expect, and his coach constantly made the workouts more psychologically, mentally and emotionally difficult.

The list goes on and on I challenge anyone to give me one example of a leader who got there alone. Come on give me one.

This is So Huge

10% of your brain's capacity? Have you ever heard that this is all that you use and thought: I wish I could find a way to get more out of what I've been given?

I have been puzzeled about this since I was roughly 7-8 years old (if I could use more of my brain I could probably remember the exact date).

Here is what I now know, after working on this one for a lot of years. . .

The myth that you have no access to your subconcious needs to be dispelled. You absolutely have access to your subconcious. You are the leader of the subconcious mind. I think so many people have heard about these two "facts" and wondered what can I do with them?

Here it is. . . it is so simple. . . you may miss it.

You don't have to work very hard to access more of your brain, or more importantly to gain the strenght that is the subconcious mind. Here is the key-

1) Try every day to be 1% better then the day prior in any area.
2) Discover what that 1% is by going and doing.
3) Do what you say you are going to do today and as your leaving take a quick look back and say if I had done this better then I would have had a result 1% better?
4) If awareness is key, you've just through your awareness given your subconcious an order to change your performance next time.
5) The next time you go about the task your subconcious will have you ready to do the activity naturally.

This is so easy that I've got to give an example. I was setting up some ads relating to a project I am working on. It will be frequent that I will be doing this activity. Rather then walking away and checking the task off the list. I looked back real quick and asked myself, how would I make this activity 1% more effective? I was amazed that I found 3 better places that would be more effective then the area I chose to advertise. I walked away with the awareness. . . my mind literally did the rest I can gurantee with no more concious mental or physical labor my activity tommorow will be more then 1% more effective. I can continue asking the question how could I have improved this activity 1% more everyday.

Rather then believing you have can only use 10% of your capacity look for opportunities to get more from it. Rather then telling yourself you have no access to your subconcious. Begin giving your subconcious demands to work out. Some of the greatest scientific discoveries have come as a result of a scientist waking up from a dream (subconcious working) with answer of his/her deep concentrated work.

What A Child Knows

Yesterday I had a day-dream session that was going so well. You know the one, the imagination of the future was so clear that you get lost in the emotions of it. It was so clean, it was, as the saying goes- so close you can almost taste it.

Then what happened? Poof disappeared from distraction? The reality of life brought the distance which was great into clear view?

These are a couple of guesses of what may happen to you and your day-dreams.

I use day-dreams here to speak in terms most people can understand. Now I am going to flip the term to VISION. Those were not simply daydreams. They were gifts and desires that were placed into my mind for a reason. If they were of value and would cause me to stretch, make me work, make me stay up late, feed my righteous passions they were a gift from GOD.

Vision. I have a new rule that I will live by. I will day dream like a child and take action steps as an adult. I will never tell that child within what it can and cannot be, have, or do. As an adult I will hold myself accountable to set the goals to bring these visions to pass.

I will continue to keep a dream list and update it as I have these visions of the future. If I am going to work hard in the present anyway, I am either going to keep my head down and miss the opportunities or have it up seeing where I am going, letting the opportunities drive me forward so I can grab onto their promise.

Dream everyday as a CHILD, and take action steps as an ADULT.

10,000 Hours

Have you put in your 10,000 hours yet?

So many people start something. A business, a hobbie, a skill. They can measure in the begining the growth of where they were when they began but the growth does not happen as rapidly as when they went from bad to noticibly better.

Most people give up and quit. . .

Tragic. There will always be great growth in the begining of anything you do in life. You can always go from bad to better. It may even seem you are good. The transition from bad to good takes only interest.

Good doesn't get noticed, Great does. The transition from good to great takes more then interest it takes commitment.

There needs to be commitment to the process. It has been said that the atheletes we recognize today are being recognized for their successes on stage as result of many private failures. How many?

Well the average amount of time in the process is 10,000 hours. Is this going take committment? 10,000 hours?

To put this number into perspective 10,000 hours at 40 hours a week will be 5 years. 5 years of committed activity. This is only a part of the commitment. . .

The second part of the committment is the VISION. How much passion do you really have for the end result.

Here is the relationship of the 10,000 hours-

You will need a vision for what you want life to look like 5 years from now, then you will need the the pathway to achieve this, these are the goals, then you will need the activities that make your ordinary activities extra-ordinary. These activities are the 10,000 hours.

Reviewing from today forward- commit the hours of activity that will achieve the goals that will manifest the vision.

If the activities look flat at any time adjust the vision to be more focused then adjust the goals, then burrow on the belief of the vision to get excited about the activity.

Take a dream building workshop, too many people stop dreaming at age 18 and this muscle needs some serious conditioning.

"Oook aaaa laacckkka miccccckkkaa!!!!!"

When you are in a bad mood, have you ever wondered why you can become more and more negative?

You feel more and more awful then you continue adding a continuous stream of thoughts that will make cause yourself to feel deeply upset?

The mind is an amazing thing. It will start down a path and continue on that same path until it is interrupted.

Awareness is amazing. You could mess up your day without it, or you can interrupt and set your mind on a different path as soon as you realize you are heading for what I like to refer to the "Funk".

Have you ever been in a fight with your friend or spouse. It seems things are escalating they are getting more and more intense. The forced words are now yells.

This is where the ultimate proof of the amazing power of awareness and distraction can come in. This weekend my mentor Mr. Mark Michaud was teaching us what to do in the event you feel more and more upset and the communication has become more about who is right and who is wrong.

He says give it a big "Oook aaaa laacckkka miccccckkkaa!!!!!". What in the world am I talking about here? Has this writer gone completely nuts!.

Here is the deal. Come up with a funny phrase that you can say. This should distract you from your position of opposition, but more importantly it will get your mind off of the same destructive path that it has carved into you brain over time through spaced repetition. It puts a temporary road block, then it will cause your mind to jump into a different place.

The best part about this technique. . . You are making a conscious decision to not take yourself so serious, in fact you might even laugh, and when your spouse knows they won the argument because their partner has taken the "crazy" card then they may even calm down and laugh too.

This is my silly word, get your own. Use it with when you talk to yourself too------- You may not realize this but you talk to your self over 50,000 times in the course of a day!!! More then with any other person------- This same technique can prevent your inner conversations from going down hill in a hurry as well.

Self Talk is a great subject for another day though. . .

Clear In Order to Create

Know what you want.

There is no way to create unless you know what you want first. Stephen Covey calls this "Begin with the End in mind".

Here is a quick question. Two people having the means and opportunity to purchase. One has an idea of the next car they want to purchase, the other knows they want a new car, but has no idea what they want.

Who gets the car first?

This is a trick question. The second one is likely to get the care first. The problem is that this may not be "THE" car. Will the second individual even realize "THE" car if they had it. Not likely.

Your subconscious mind will go to work with the directions that you give it. If I know the car I am looking for, without me knowing it my other senses will begin seeing more and more of the "THE" car. This sounds too good to be true or unrealistic. Let me prove how realistic this is.

You may have experienced this already. When you purchased your last vehicle, immediately wasn't there more of the same vehicle that you just purchased on the road. This is because you brought from your subconscious an awareness due to your purchase.

You can now use this to your advantage. You can become clear on what you want first, crystal clear and then you will see more of the same vehicle ahead of time. This will allow you to have a choice it will be yours for the choosing and negotiation.

If this seems superficial, sorry, I don't believe that if you are going to spend money on a vehicle you should settle on something that you don't like.

What do you want? That depends a great deal on your values.

Settling in life is a shame. When you seek out what you want you can and should manifest it. If the thought and desire has been sought out in your heart and aligns with your personal values.

Fast pace and quick fix I want it now mentality will be an obstacle in this approach. This is fair warning.

Another obstacle is the distraction of other things that you may want. That is why dream boards are so powerful. I think dream boards are misunderstood:

I personally would not put the whole fleet of luxury cars on your dream board if for example you own a "hoopty". It will be discouraging. Place one car first, then build from there. This is not say don't aim for the stars, it is to say distraction of focusing on too much can happen.

Lesson From the Cheshire Cat

In Alice's Adventure in Wonderland the Cheshire Cat teaches one of the most important lessons in lifestyle in the space of about 10 seconds.

"Would you tell me please which way I ought to go from here?"

"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to" said the Cat.

"I don't much care where. . ."

"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.

Lifestyle- take a picture, either still fram description or literal if applicable. Your lifestyle is a result of your choices up until this point.

Are you "where" you want to be?

Did you, like Alice choose to not define this ahead of time?

Empower yourself for change. Go through your house, go through your vehicle, go through your conversations of others, go through your time you spend, go through your associations, go through your library. Be an observer of these things, non-judgemental, just observing. Take a snapshot.

You can decide today what your lifestyle is. You can answer the Cat tommorow where you want each of these areas to be. It is all a choice.

The biggest lesson of the Cheshire Cat is if you don't have a clear direction for any of the areas of life you are just blown by the winds of circumstance. This hardly seems productive to me, but then you just may enjoy living like Alice who had to wait for crisis in order to make changes.

Did I Choose Right?

This is a day and age that so many people are changing their careers. It happens to be out of choice for some, and for others it is forced. The unemployment will reach 11% very soon.

It is a great time in our nation's history, and it is a difficult time. The question today to ponder with so many shifts in careers today. . .

Did I choose the right one for me?

Paul J. Meyer has a great way to answer this: "True indicators that a person choose the right career are a burning fervor, a driving desire, a sense of mission, and a purpose."

The greats will lead the fearful through this time. The way to become great is to assess in the are I work am I finding purpose in my mission, and driving with intensity that only comes from a white hot burning desire.

The solution if this is not the case is also the enhancement. . .

Here is the deal. Right now if you are simply good at your career of choice and you sense that it has the potential to be the "RIGHT" path. You need to spend some time finding out why you are not great.

When you ask why am I good and not great? Amazing things will occur. This question so differs from the norm. The mediocre blaming of the economy, the scarcity that you will be rewarded with action steps and recognize them immediately.

This is a great activity to do weekly at least and daily if necessary-

1) Take time to be in a quiet place

2) Get centered in the way you have learned in your life to

3) Ask yourself if I could make this week/tomorrow great what would I do

4) Spend some time dreaming in color about actions and results that would occur

5) Search out in your mind what your emotions are, what your purpose would be, who would be involved

6) Spend some time afterwards writing down your activities, attitudes, and purpose for the next day.

So many people are focused by outside of themself factors the time is so ripe to take charge of your life. The world will clear a path for a leader that lives on purpose.

Strength Vs. Weakness Debate

In the field of personal development, organization consultation. There is a debate that exists.

The debate is after I gain awareness of my strengths vs my weaknesses which one do I focus on?

The argument that you are held back by your weaknesses is a valid one, however think for a minute. If you were to take your weaknesses and spend a large amount of your time energy and resources on them. . .

Could you ever become great in your weaknesses?

Would you ever desire to stay with them for long enough to become great?

How long would it be, before your strengths became weaker because of the amount of time outside of them?

No one will drive from miles around to watch someone who has taken a weakness and raised it to mediocrity.

This is why you have teams in Corporate America. If you are aware of your weaknesses you surround yourself with people who do that area better in that area then you are. For early leaders this is a difficult thing because it pulls on insecurity, for established leaders it is about change.

When strengths are where the majority of the focus comes then the results of greatness can be attained. It is when you hear the phrase "play to your strength".

If it is necessary to go towards the weakness get a third party involve and brainstorm how you can use your strengths to lift your weaknesses.

If you are unaware of what you are good at that you could be great at. If awareness is your weakness, GET HELP FAST!!!

Passion or Poison

There are times when what you do can either be on the side of your Passion or be on the side of Poison-slowly killing off your vitality.

Find out where you are-

When you are working on the things in your life are you enjoying it?

Do the tasks seem more and more undesirable?

When you have the chance to relax or to get deeper in your journey to achieve more do you choose to relax?

Do you feel more guilty motivated then energy motivated?

When their is a rut that keeps you on answering these questions unhealthily it is because you have lost allignment with what is most important to you. You may have a vision defficiency of not seeing the future from the present. A discouragement issue of not seeing the future throught the clouds of past failures. Or an allignment problem where your priorities have become out of order causing energy drains in your routine.

There is one thing for certain in your assessment here. The way back to your purpose is through your passion. There is no better way to find the energy to move forward out of rut then clearly defining your passion and allowing yourself to live in it.

The opposite of passion is doing something you don't like. There is nothing worst then doing what you dislike. This will cause an erosion of integrity as you look for shortcuts, it will cause energy drains as your attitude and expectency become negative, and it is a passion killer.

This is not to say you aren't greatful for what your doing to create a living even if it is not what you would like to do. It is not only foolish to jump out of the airplane of your current job/career without a parchute of another means of living. It is to say spend the time daily to see that your passion and purpose is advanced as well.

If your job feels like a means to an end your doomed to the end. If your job, on the other hand feels like a vehicle to something greater as you invest in your purpose and personal growth then your career imediately can be something you are greatful for.

Find ways to expand your dreams, clarify your vision, and follow your passion now. Like today, choose something today that you will do that re-alligns you with your purpose or passion.

I Like Myself, I Like Myself, I Like Myself

You will never be able to give the world more caring than you have for yourself.

I work with clients all the time who say I am not worth it, I don't deserve it, I will do for others and deprive myself. All these thoughts they stay stuck in their comfort zones with insane rationalizations like: "I am being unselfish, I worry about others first," or misunderstanding "love others before you love yourself".

These are all lies. I have found long term if a person is putting others needs above their own first they have to have certain of their needs fulfilled if it is truly genuine. Most of the time they do it because they are trying to fill a need that they are not speaking to.

If a person is truly not loving of them self they are putting others first in order to gain validation, a feeling of worth through the other individual. This still seems pretty Innocent at first. I am here to be a little in your face on this point. The motive becomes more and more unhealthy when the doer has places their own self worth in the other persons hand. They cannot feel good unless the other person feels good about them. Huge problem here. This can be a vicious sick cycle that never resolves, people are not concerned enough to fill your self worth meter, they cannot be, you cannot be, it won't happen.

This is why your self worth cannot come from without, but instead from within.

I like myself, I enjoy saying this today. I have not always been able to shout this from the roof top. I know today I don't give another person in my life permission to like me unless I like me first. I know that I don't genuinely like another or even love another unless I love from within first.

Don't let the world tell you lies, love yourself, love everything about you, if you cannot love your entire self, choose one thing you can love about yourself and focus on it until you see another thing.

Wait To Plan, Plan To Wait

There is a catchy phrase tossed around in goal setting seminars fail to plan, plan to fail. I want to back up a little further and re-phrase it with "Wait to Plan, Plan to Wait".

Nothing can take from the potency of one's leadership more then having a lack of vision. Vision comes from imagination and careful planning. The more crystallized the destination the more sure-footed the journey, the more people the leader can lead.

This is not foreign for anyone reading this. In fact let me give you an example:

Let's say you are planning a TEAM RETREAT in month. Two leaders one who hasn't planned. One who has. You decide who you would follow:

The LEADER WHO PLANNED, has a vision of the future:
I'm going to have 100 people I am mentoring on my team at the event: I better start promoting- "(name), You got a minute?"
"Did you hear?"
"Imagine, if you could, what it would take to fly around the country and visit the top 12 leaders in their city, in their marketplace, coordinate your visit so that you catch them exactly the day they are scheduled to train, hang out after the training and ask them a handful of questions. What kind of a cost would that have?"

"It would be worth the thousands of dollars invested, right? Well if you could afford this it would take some valuable time as well right?"

"What if I told you that from the 23rd of July through the 25th of July you could drive right up the road to Palm Springs, stay at a resort hotel, have all the 12 leaders you would have interviewed fly in to the resort, not only will they be ready to train, but also ready to and willing in a casual resort atmosphere to answer your questions maybe even poolside."

"This event is so impressive that leaders who are not even booked to train are flying in all across the Nation and Canada to take notes, it is estimated over 50 people making over 6 figures a year from home will be there. Then looking at cost and compression of time frames you can do this all for under $500 and in under a 72 hour time period. I even have a special room rate for you and the people you are mentoring."

"On July 23-26 in Palm Springs this event will take your personal development journey miles further then anything you could possibly do this summer. "

Contrast LEADER WHO WAITED TO PLAN, whose destination is not crystallized, whose vision is not clear:

I don't know if I will get my hotel room yet, the ticket only cost 95 dollars last month, the ticket now costs 135 and I don't get paid til Friday. Let me call up my team and see if they are going?

"Dave, how's it going, are you going to Palm Springs in a month?"

Who would you follow? Who do you think will need to wait for their goals to manifest?

Who Defines Me

Who Defines Me?

Most people would very rapidly decide I define me. I have experienced this to not be the truth for the majority of people.

The fact is that there is an ideal self that most of us visit a lot less often then the real self that we are currently manifesting.

When I am working with a client who has manifested destroyed relationships, jail, brig, etc. the majority of the time at the heart of this is a poor self image. The quote from some clients is "I am a screw up". This is shame, or prior guilt and other-imposed definition of oneself.

Shame kills the same way affirmation gives hope to new life.

I have often said that "You will never rise above the definition of what you hold for yourself". This is proven with a principle in Psychology called Self-Fulfilling Prophesy.

In my own words and experience. Self-Fulfilling Prophesy negatively manifest for most people in this manner: I have a belief about myself in a situation. This belief may have validity it may not. To me it is true. I now seek out clues of my environment, interactions to make this belief true. When I find a clue that "proves" my definition I hold to it as truth and prove the initial belief with more validity.

What is holding you back then. Who defines you. Taking ownership of who defines you will either promote you or expose you. If I believe that today I am great husband, I will work toward manifesting and behaving in a way that is kind and loving with my wife, I will not do so for validation of the truth from her as a codependent individual would. I will do it as a confirmation of the belief I hold for myself. With practice my love grows as a husband and this definition gets firmer in my being as I manifest it outwardly.

3 Types of People (Inspired by Les Brown)

I watched a clip by Les Brown yesterday that was amazing. Success Magazine has an amazing promo CD/DVD. I had heard Mr. Brown was great but my studies had been limited on his seminars.

There are 3 types of people 1)those who are successful, 2)those who are not (basically give up and become victims) and those who have not arrived, 3)they have achieved success at a level that many people would consider great, but inside they know that they are searching to become more.

These are they who sit in seminars thirsting for more pieces of the puzzle of the person they strive to become. . .

They set and achieve goals but know there is still more music left in them to sing. . .

They serve and are about a great work but know they can create more to give back. . .

When they sit down to take notes they sense a higher self sits with them and they look for ways to reach higher and actualize. . .

These are the greats, these are the great potentials waiting to bring the world the value that they have been uniquely gifted with.

It is strange that even learning has a zone, an area of sweetness when what I learn has a unifying connecting thread, and I know that what I am learning is on a more efficient level.

As I listened to a leadership training by John C. Maxwell the previous night I realized there are 3 types of learners as well, 1)those who are ignorant, they don't know what they don't know, 2)those who are learn-ed, they know it already, and 3)those who are on a continuous path of learning. They thirst for more knowledge and are humble enough to keep looking. I believe there is a tie in.

This is key for those who feel less then those who have "arrived". For those who feel uncomfortable about approaching the "great" ones. . .
Remember-
There really are only 3 learners and 3 people. Those who are ignorant, those who are learned or have arrived (falsely) and are not on the same journey and are not approachable anyway. Those who are still in the pursuit and on the purpose of "pouring into" others and adding value. The courage should come from the perspective that if they are still on the journey of learning they are still on the journey of service.

How is all this related. When you have the opportunity to ask someone who is where you want to go in the future, who is manifesting in the present what you want to in the future, where you are drawn to:
-Have some questions in mind and ask with confidence. An actualized person's favorite subject is there life purpose. It is there passion, there is invaluable amounts of information and vision provoking "nuggets" that can help guide your path.
-Interview and once a month take someone great out to eat. Everyone needs to eat.
-Just a warning, check your ego at the door, if you are too busy talking about what you've done and believe then you might miss invaluable time learning. Not that big of a deal, remember you have two ears one mouth keep this ratio in mind as you go forward.

"But You Promised"

"I Promise" words rarely uttered today.

I don't see enough written or taught regarding promises. I have found in general most people are very reluctant to say: "I promise". It is usually I will try, or I will do my best to, or if I can, but rarely the very simple "I promise".

I began meditating as to why this might be. . .

It was amazing the strength of someones word in ancient times. If, for example you were captured in battle, and mercy was granted, you could take an oath that you would lay down your weapon and this would be sufficient.

It would not matter how wicked your deeds were at the time you entered into an oath or covenant your word was your bond.

I believe we don't say "I Promise" regularly is due to fear and insecurity. It could come from past failures to keep your word. It could be a lack of commitment.

I am researching into the power of the PROMISE today. I know for me PROMISES are powerful. They go beyond just saying I am going to do something. I believe if I promise something I will deliver or die trying. Although this seems dramatic it is a page out of ancient history where if an oath was taken and not upheld death was at times a consequence.

I think the parents can relate to kids that use the strength of promises as leverage. If you are like me, my kids have said almost as early as they began talking "but you promised" even if this was not the case. I believe that this is such a powerful concept it can truly bring an adult to their knees before a three year old.

There is something so potent about the promise, it feels inside like my reputation, my integrity, and my relationships can hinge on a verbal contract that is a promise. I believe this to be a great thing, a way to break out of complacent comfort zones. I believe in making more promises in life.

I can remember while on active duty I picked up the habit of nicotine. It did not serve me well, I could feel its' damaging effects on me in all 8 areas of my life. When I got out of the service I tried many different solutions to this powerful addiction. When I was finally able to quit with the assistance of a program, one of the key elements of this program was a contract. This contract wasn't any contract it was a promise I made with God that I would not smoke again. At the time I was working with Disabled Veterans at a facility, The area that tobacco was used was right outside my office door. I placed that contract right on the back of my door in plain sight so that I could see it every time I walked out into the cloud smoke. There were certain days that I know it was only by virtue of this promise I didn't smoke. I haven't returned to smoking since making that contract. It has been over 5 years now and I have seen so many rich blessings as a result of this commitment and promise.

I am at a time in my life when I desire to stretch my abilities to grow my capacity in areas such as love, service, productivity, and the value I bring. I believe this takes commitment to the process and I know better way then to enter into agreements and follow through.

Today I am challenging myself to look for opportunities to make promises.

Passion

Everyone does something better then the next 10,000 people. When I heard this yesterday I thought about some of the people I knew. I thought about myself. I thought really? Something better then the next 10,000 people?

There are so many people who have talents and gifts that are not being developed as they work outside of their passion. Their passion whether discovered or not relates to the thing that they do well that no other person does better.

What is it for you? Do you want to discover it? Everyone you would think would like to know what they are better then anyone they know at. This is simply not the case. I have a theory that even if people fully discovered the thing they are better then, the majority would still live out of alignment.

When I use out of alignment in the above paragraph I use it to say that if your day to day activities do not a lot for enough of an opportunity to allow your passion to come through you are out of alignment and your dream is slowly dying inside you.

Our passions are where our dreams spring from, if you can find an outlet for your passion that is consistent the creations that you will begin to enjoy are unbelievable. I don't know what your passion is, but if you find your passion you find your purpose, if you find your purpose you can define your values, and if you can define your values and find your purpose you can live daily with confidence and a hope that your grandest dreams can come true.

How can I make this claim? Because it is based on truth. If I have the passion, I know my purpose, I know what my rules are (values), and I have a hope (faith from successes and divine vision), then I am not bound by man for my dreams and neither are you. Your dreams are seeds planted from a much higher source.

Live your life so that you don't go to your grave having never sung your song.

Experts Get Paid

Are you an expert?

Here is a good test. . .

How do you know if you are an expert in your field of practice?
-Are you being paid in the upper 5% in the field? If you are not then you have not proven yourself to be an expert yet.

Okay that is the harsh reality, here is the relief. This is not a dead end zone. The beauty is that you can overcome this. You can be paid at the top of your profession, career etc.

It is the reverse of what most people think, there is always more room at the top of the pay scale then there is at the bottom. It's true, the bottom of the ladder is where a large percentage of the people in your field make their homes, the middle of the ladder is where the majority do and there is so much more wealth and space on top.

I write this today to declare war.

I declare war on mediocre mentality, I declare war on the idea that you can't make more than the company gives you. I declare war on the very prison that most have lived in regarding their lifestyle.

Poverty mentality says this is the ceiling the company doesn't pay more. That is not true, that is what you are making with skill set you bring. The company or market pays others more right?

So how do you break through the ceiling. I am going to put out the biggest jewel that has ever been and will ever be right now. If you choose to get on this path and do so intensely over the next 5 years of your life. Focusing your whole being on this one thing when the time affords. Making it such a priority that you don't get knocked off course. . .

Here it is. . .

LEARNING. . . Become a student of everything. This is what the child knows. They pick up on most things effortlessly because they are always learning.

Begin today, don't wait, find out what you need to learn and learn it. Thirst for it, hunger for the details, live passionately for the truths and in 5 years you won't even recognize the life you are living.

LEARN, READ, LISTEN, ASSOCIATE!!! WAKE UP!

Complacency is a Killer

It is a mindset to do just enough to get by. It is a battle I think all of us face in some area of our life. It becomes a habit and erodes away at the standards that we have.

You are never truly stopped in your growth or regression in life. You are either getting better or worse at the skills and talents you have been blessed with. There is an apathy that is at the root cause of being stuck.

I know there are a lot of people who have different definitions of apathy. I keep mine as simple as possible Apathy to me is the lack of love of whatever your doing being or becoming. The definition seems to fit for me.

The entry point for intervention of complacency is this- Many of us are good at things. The problem with being good at things is that it makes it real hard to be great.

I would put to the reader the main reason we become stuck is due to a standard we set or our "good level" we make a certain income level and we feel we are making it or "good". Money isn't everything I know but it is really easy to measure and something universally understood.

So you sit at a benchmark of "good" with your income. The moment you slip below that amount and detect that you are not making the same amount I guarantee you will fight like mad to return to that same level of income. The urgency will shock you. It may not be you that detects your income standard isn't as high as it should be. Someone else may help you to realize you are slipping in your income.

You want to know how simple it is then to build out of complacency?

You have to never be satisfied with the person you have become. It is not to say become neurotic. Here is the balance to all this. Be easily pleased but never satisfied. As soon as you feel you've arrived your standards are set and complacency and apathy sets in.

Strive for more. Set attainable goals that leads you to believe you can become more. There is something very righteous about understanding that your potential is God's gift to you, what you do with it is your gift to him.

Practice Makes PERRRRR . . .

Practice makes permanent. I know, I know-what you might be thinking: "that's not how the saying goes".

Practicing the right thing will make that stick, the same as practicing the wrong things. That is why Practice does not make perfect, it makes permanent. (Read this in a T Harv Ecker book the other day and thought that is so on point)

This is a bigger deal then simple semantics. I can remember playing competitive sports. The level at which I would perform in a game was greatly effected by the level at which I would give during practice.

The mind body relationship is amazing, and not, even with all the technology in existence, fully explored and understood. Your mind cannot fully grasp what is real and what is your imagination. This applies big time to practice making permanent:

Have you ever, for example, been so focused on something the whole day that when you lay down and drift of into that first level of sleep where you still are on the surface and you jerk into motion and you realize that you were dreaming about the activity you were so focused on the whole day. This was your mind hi-jacked and practicing making permanent what you set in motion that day, re-enforcing actions and results.

I can remember loving to play the sport basketball growing up. I loved that immediate result of seeing the ball travel out of my hand and go through the net and the high that came as I felt validated for my efforts. I loved chasing down a rebound and knowing not only was I positioned better then anyone on the court but I wanted the ball more, and was willing to hustle more for each. I loved the momentum of the team as we passed and worked for the shots that would crush the competition. I can remember the valuable lesson of the mind when I would slip off to sleep, my body might have been bruised from catching elbows, ankles wrapped with ice packs, arms tired from exertion but I would slip off into sleep and every so often jerk myself awake and realize my arms were practicing making a shot.

There is a huge lesson here. Every day you go through the mundane activities, every skill set that you are developing, every challenge you must overcome to get through to reward, you have to realize that there is permanent behaviors being etched into your character. It is a good question to always ask yourself, is the way I am approaching this the same way I would if the spot light was on me and I wanted to display peak performance; or: am I on the side of cutting corners and is just getting by becoming permanent here?

Get Another Job or Your Own Income Stream?

There will be a time in the majority of peoples life when what you are doing is not enough. Different stages of life provide new costs, new lifestyle desires. Whether this is wanting to raise your kids in a different neighborhood or with a different set of teeth (braces). This could be that you have one of your kids ready to go to school, or you want to go travel more.

Whatever the reason I want to say having experienced this drive to provide more outside of the primary income stream, and having gone and gotten the second job. The second job will only feel very short term needs.

I advocate strongly you consider building during the time you would be going and slaving away working for another boss, getting down to business. Real business, their are tons of opportunities out their that will fill your financial needs temporarily, but do your research.

I personally have found the dream part time business that pays full time money. There is no playing around with small income streams with the company I found to work with.

The key questions to ask when looking at any business are:

1) Is there a training system in place, many of us have been to school to specialize in the fields we do. A business was not probably the main focus, this is why it is so crucial to have great training opportunities.

2) Is there a need for the product or service you are providing, in the real sense of today's economy the need must be strong

3) Do you have an easy way to predict your pay example: if you do this___then this____ is the resulting income. It can become difficult to aim for the goals of why you began working on your own business without clear-cut ways to measure the new income.

4) Is there an opportunity to leverage your abilities. Can you duplicate yourself. If this does not exist then your part time income from doing extra with your own business will remain part time income. It is important to understand that you want to have a good income stream that flows when you are there and when you are not.

5) Can your business stand the test of time? One of the beauties of buying into a franchise or a larger company as an affiliate is that when you are starting your business you can compare and gain experience from others who have gone before you. (for other advantages see blog "If you want a flat tire re-invent the wheel")

You have the choice trade time for money to hit short term goals or build something smartly in your part time that can create income and time in the long term.

What Are You Looking At

Have you ever thought about the education system from High School Diploma to Doctorate. The amount of learning that gets condensed into a few short years.

Here is controversy. Even with the Continuing Education Units I am required to keep up in my field to carry my credentials they pale in comparison to the amount of work and studying that went into the degree initially.

I heard something from a mentor Mr. Chris Hughes, this weekend: "We allow people to work on degrees and knowledge they gained in 1978."

The crazy thing is he is 100% correct. It is true that people work on the job with new skills gained but when did the majority of the knowledge get crammed in their heads, the first few years of work, or from mostly theory based college courses.

I was realizing the other day as my son asked me "Where my candy is?" it had fallen on my sleeve and I said: "It is right there on my sleeve". I could tell at first he didn't know what the word "sleeve" meant, but he used his own observation station (his eyes) and saw the candy. Immediately he learned something new and I could see the connection of sleeve for him.

Chris Hughes went on to say that any "6 years of intense learning can change your whole course in life for the better." The key here is intense learning in the right areas. We don't even realize we are learning and remembering on a daily basis. My question I have to constantly ask myself is What Am I learning?

Try this as an activity to make this lesson stick, ask a good question of someone you admire. Ask them what books have made the biggest impact on their life. Not only is this a great question to get a deeper understanding of the individual, but I have found is a great compliment as well.

Finally I have to ask in the sense of learning: WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?

Believe in Yourself

One force will prevent you from acting. One force will provide you with excuses. One force will cause you to check out of your pursuits. One force will cause you to quit. . .

Fear of failure.

Who has to deal with this fear? Everyone. If you don't deal with this fear your probably not setting high enough goals.

Fear of failure is the exact opposite of belief in oneself. The only way to overcome the Fear of Failure is to:

1. Embrace it as normal- everyone fears failure
2. Hold onto the goal that is triggering the failure
3. Create simple action steps to attain the goal
4. Understand failure is a result the same as success is
5. Get into massive action driving toward your goals
6. Succeed and fail alike. Getting better with the successes and doing less and less of what fails
7. Make it a goal to know each night where you are in the process and set up steps to follow through with to never be there again
8. Believe in the power of compound interest. Each success adds momentum, compounds on itself and pushes you closer to goal.
9.You can do it. (affirm yourself) If you can see yourself accomplishing it you can do it.
10. Hold onto that image through the process and don't let the world take you away from that picture.

Expect your dreams to come true, know that success is inevitable and know that your creator did not create you to live out the stuckness of your fear. You were created to continue the process of creation.

Concious Non-sense=Subconcious No-cents

I just began mentoring someone that required some big picture thinking. She is fairly young and has some great goals and desires in business. I let her know of an underutilized resource of the LIBRARY. . .

I told her to have them hold Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad Poor Dad. I have read this book a few times but when I am coaching I will pick up the book I assign if it's been a while so that I am sharp and the other individual can receive the benefit of me being quite literally on the same page.

I realized the power of the mind in finances last night as I was re-reading Rich Dad Poor Dad. The book, if you haven't read it contrasts the philosophies of those who are wealthy and those who have little. It is an overall look into the two class system of Have's and Have-Not's. Jumping ahead to the point here. . .

The father that ended up poor when faced with paying for something constantly affirmed or calibrated as I like to look at it "I can't afford it". The wealthy father's response and calibration was "how can I afford it". The poor father constantly said to the mind when faced with a financial challenge shut down we are poor don't need to work toward creating the wealth for 'that'. The rich dad, while not rich at the time, had his mind set on do the work to come with solution on how we can afford that.

One mind getting increasingly stronger and the other weaker, one mind being challenged with a task, the other shut down and complacent.

The subconscious mind is like an amazing powerhouse of worker bees. It sits in wait for orders and goes to work immediately to follow through with what we send as orders. It does not discriminate whether the task is possible or not. The only time it interprets the task as impossible is if we feed it this order.

HUGE, this is so big, check it out. . .

The next time you are tempted to say I can't your right. Begin noticing this and just simply change the verbage around to HOW CAN I? Send your mind to work.

It is like Henry Ford said: Whether you think(the message) you can or you think you can't you are right.

Go Up To Go Out

When we perform anything in life there is optimum efficiency and there is unbalanced inefficiency.

One of the key factors of being in the "zone" is going up to go out. I don't know if this is something that you have heard before maybe similar. The idea is that what you do on a moment to moment basis intentionally has initial vision attached to it.

I have done various sports through the years, and they a lot of people can relate to them as an example. The times that I have really played well is when I saw myself doing well ahead of time, then I enjoyed running toward my vision of what I saw.

It is one of the hardest things in the world to stay maximum efficient all the time, but I want to say that with everything it takes practice. You can stop what you are doing right now and ask am I being intentional about what I am doing.

The very next task that you take on, the next game that you play. Envision yourself doing it in your minds-eye to the best of your ability. Hold this vision firm as you go forward giving no possibility to the chance of defeat. Then execute.

There is a study that was done of kids learning how to shoot free throws. One group was given the ball for a short period of time so they knew and felt the mechanics. The next group was given the ball solid for the next 30 days. The first group practiced making the shots in their mind the over the next 30 days. They had someone describe it over and over. The measurements were taken. The group who had the ball the whole time had less of an overall improvement then the group who made the free throws in their mind.

There is no substitution for hard work, yet it makes sense to use the one muscle that can cause maximum efficiency more. The mind.

Try it, envision right before you attempt and enjoy the results. It feels good to live out your vision.

Only in the Way We Think

Working today on the way we think about situations that occur. Your thoughts guide your emotions that guide your actions that guide your reactions. So many times we fail to understand this and go about reacting which is action begets action instead of responding which is action takes it birth in thought.

The problem most people have even when it comes to attempting to respond is that they return to faulty thoughts. This will lead them back down the journey to a similar finishing point.

The things we affirm will always come true. Part of the reason for 'protection of associations' is because we get influenced by others philosophies and if you want what they have think like they think and feel like they feel and then do what they do.

This is not puffed up, it is fact. If you want to get to the heart of it don't let your thoughts be set by man. Get into a higher level of thoughts through God. It is why praying or meditation is so vitally important.

Take the next task and decide to use a higher thought pattern, for me it is finding the stillness after I ask and am grateful God gives me guidance. The obstacles are not to be focused on they are to bring more value to the journey of the task as opposition be grateful. The journey will teach you more then the finished task. This was always inevitable with faith, the failures along the way were the lessons that you could not see as you looked at the completed task.

Confidence does not fully describe when you operate under a higher level of thinking driving emotions of endless power and energy, which result in actions that are congruent to the source of your thoughts and the results are the "impossible".

What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve. What is planted in the mind and in the heart to accomplish from God will come to pass with or without us it will be us who decides to move forward as a conduit of this task or step aside and miss the opportunity.

The source of this is knowing I am nothing without him, but with him in purpose can accomplish his work for me to do.

The Value of a Book

Napoleon Hill in Think and Grow Rich speaks of the power of the Mastermind principle. The reason one would meet together with other people in this fashion is to create an extra mind that would not be available without the sum total of all the parties involved creativity. In Christianity a scripture defines this: "Where two or three are gathered in my name there am I also."

There will be times that your expectations of your purpose exceeds those around you. When this occurs it can be a difficult thing to maintain these expectations and not get pulled back to the earth by gravity. Keep aiming for the stars and practice the Mastermind Principle to assist you.

There are three things that can assist you to draw on the creative energies of the very best leaders ever to walk the earth and this is not a new idea. It takes some belief, some faith that this type of mastermind works.

Let me set this process up. Have you ever been engaged in a relationship with a mentor and you find yourself calling them a lot at first then you go to pick up the phone after a while and you know because of their nature and philosophy what they would say if you asked their advice. It is using this same creativity that you can employ the ultimate mastermind when those around you may not see your potential.

First off start getting more from the 3 things that make up most of the difference of that which influences you. 1) The things you see. Especially right now if there is to much negativity to be seen pick up a book and see through the eyes of a leader. I have a mentor Robin Sharman who says reading a book is like having a conversation with the author. Who are you currently conversing with? 2) What you hear. What are the things that have been crossing over the sound waves that you have been listening to lately? Learn out loud with audio programs, when you seek there will be an abundance of sources. 3) Who you are around. This is what I want to focus on especially asking that you the reader open your mind.

Who you associate with is so vitally important. If those that you are around don't expect your greatness to shine through. If you even sense that they don't appreciate your potential limit your time around these people. The vast majority are projecting there doubts on you. Spend more time finding the natures of the great leaders. Then. . . and this is so crucial. . . Start asking what would Disraeli do in this situation? What would Abraham Lincoln do if faced with this challenge? How would Edison go after solving this problem? How would Bill Gates think globally about this? What Would Jesus Do?(important) The more you ask these questions and less you check in with the doubters and what would they do, the higher your actions will come from.

This process will unfold for you eventually and create a Mastermind the level of realness of this mastermind will depend on you. The greatest leaders of all time will come through as a result of your FAITH in the process, DILIGENCE in the study, and CONSISTENCY in applying this.

It Matters

There are times that it is necessary to evaluate what things in your life needs to be changed. The answers can vary from person to person. It could be that you need to go the gym more, to save more money or work on a budget, to stop watching so much television, to connect more with family. Whatever it is there are times that things seem out of alignment and new habits need to replace.

This is a time that a set routine needs to go into place otherwise you will not make permanent change. The time most people choose to do these self-evaluations are the first of the year. The traditional NEW YEARS RESOLUTION. What do I not like last year that I can change this year.

I want to address the most crucial factor in sticking to these plans. It is the "It Matters" factor. The majority of people will get out of the routines that are healthy and producing results at the time that they feel like today it doesn't matter. It is immediately followed by various excuses to justify not following through.

I want to stress this point very strongly. This immediately puts a destructive habit in play. The "It doesn't matter if I miss today pattern". IT MATTERS!!!

There is a battlefield that all of us fight on daily basis. It is the battlefield of the mind. As Jim Rohn puts it "The Battle of the Mind". Habits such as giving into that thought that "today it doesn't matter I will just work harder on this tomorrow," almost immediately takes someone out of the constructive pattern.

The way I personally combat this weakness in thought is I push forward immediately on the activity and I shoot beyond my goal whatever it may be. I don't know if it is a gift of handling the lapse this way, but I have interviewed many others and I have noticed I begin to enjoy the new activity even more at this point.

Huge gift when you push through and decide IT MATTERS.

Laser Focus

What is the most crucial, time sensitive task you've got to get done today?

The problem with so many different planning programs is that the above question is mentioned once or twice, but not stressed to be the most important question.

The MOST CRUCIAL task should be the MOST focused on item. If it is bigger then what can fit within your day, do whatever it takes to advance it's progress and put together a plan to do more the very next day.

If you don't get the MOST CRUCIAL task worked on when you work on the LEAST CRUCIAL distractions, most of your energy will be split.

This relates to the 80/20 principle of time management. 80% of all that matters is only 20% of what you do. 80% of the work that gets done is done within 20% of the time. 80% of packing for a trip gets done in the last 20% of the day before you leave.

The way to become laser focused and feel confident is to get the 20% done at a high level of skill and attention and witness yourself blow through the other tasks of the day.

Look at your list today and ask what is the MOST CRUCIAL thing I can do right now.

Weeds and Seeds

When I grew up we had the Saturday chores which usually consisted of going outside and weeding. I knew that it would take until the afternoon early evening and that this routine would intensify when the summer came. I used to fight it at times but it didn't change the fact I still needed to go out and the weeds were going to show if I didn't.

There were other chores in the garden beds/flower beds to do but I can remember removing the weeds the most. I do remember the satisfaction of seeing the plants behind the weeds. I wondered why weeds always grew quicker then the plants. I also wondered why a weed of the same size as a plant was so much harder to pull then when I accidently pulled the plant.

These were lessons I was learning. I know my Dad didn't intend for me to learn these lessons directly, he probably wanted me to learn hard work, completing the job etc.

Here are the lessons that I learned later on though:
1) Weeds are negative, and they have negative seeds to spread. The same negativity fall out of peoples mouths from negative thoughts and spread like weeds.
2) It takes more work for the plants to outgrow the weeds, and it takes vigilance. Goals are like seeds and negative thought weeds need to be acknowledged (not ignored) and removed quickly. 3) If you don't keep your focus on pulling weeds consistently and in areas then it will be hard to see a consistent harvest. If your dreams are unfocused and you spread your efforts to thin the fruit of your labors will be mediocre at best.
4) It hurts to pull weeds at times they are hearty and have been around the garden longer then the seeds. The weeds of negative self-talk has thorns and is hearty and it has been around longer then the new seed planted too.
5) "If you pull the weeds from the top" my dad would say, "and you don't get the roots then the weed will be back in a week". If you don't work to heal from the negativity that is in your mind, and treat yourself with respect and affirm your good qualities then your negative patterns of thought will quickly return.
6) Setting the weeds on the ground and not cleaning up the mess is inviting there offspring to enter at a stronger rate. Associations and habits of defeat will re-enter if there are no boundaries placed about them, some things need discarding.

Thanks Dad for the lessons of the garden,

Breaking Free

Depending on the type of airplane being examined it takes an amazing amount of fuel to break free. It may take as much as 50% of the fuel used in an entire flight to achieve acceleration, lift off and the climb.

This is called escape velocity.

I love that Escape Velocity. The amount of energy expended to break free and combat the pull of gravity. This is crucial to understand for any of us who have had times that we have felt stuck in our business, or in our goals.

If you are like me you have accomplished some great feats, but you know where your vision lies for yourself and it is just not where you are. More frustrating than that is that the amount of progress has not increased exponentially like you expected. It takes setting out the goal, kinda like a new flight pattern and driving for it harder then you can remember your initial push.

Someone I know has recently had such a push this last year. Her story is inspiring. She has been a photographer for a few years now and she knew in her heart that she was gifted. Her town recognized her as such. She just had it in her vision to do the work for a specific demographic. She has some incredible pictures that puts her in the upper category of her field.

She knew at the beginning of the year as she looked at her goals she would need a different flight pattern. She got to work and promoted, set up promotions, put in the sweat equity and really drove for the opportunity to do shoots for her target populations. She re-invented herself and brought more value to her customers.

She has branded herself and established her work. More value allowed her to bring in the more value. She recently had a Grand-Opening for her studio and the results were amazing. She has broken free. (I included her link at the bottom of this article. Be sure to check it out.)

How did she do it?

I observed her becoming crystal clear about the future. It was so clear and in focus (no pun intended) that it seemed as real as the present. She put out the effort to achieve the escape velocity, and as she is now breaking free, and after seeing her hearts efforts in her works I have no doubt she will be flown to her clients shoots, and people will continue to travel the distance for her work. Congratulations ANN of Anniemations-Photography.
