There are times that it is necessary to evaluate what things in your life needs to be changed. The answers can vary from person to person. It could be that you need to go the gym more, to save more money or work on a budget, to stop watching so much television, to connect more with family. Whatever it is there are times that things seem out of alignment and new habits need to replace.
This is a time that a set routine needs to go into place otherwise you will not make permanent change. The time most people choose to do these self-evaluations are the first of the year. The traditional NEW YEARS RESOLUTION. What do I not like last year that I can change this year.
I want to address the most crucial factor in sticking to these plans. It is the "It Matters" factor. The majority of people will get out of the routines that are healthy and producing results at the time that they feel like today it doesn't matter. It is immediately followed by various excuses to justify not following through.
I want to stress this point very strongly. This immediately puts a destructive habit in play. The "It doesn't matter if I miss today pattern". IT MATTERS!!!
There is a battlefield that all of us fight on daily basis. It is the battlefield of the mind. As Jim Rohn puts it "The Battle of the Mind". Habits such as giving into that thought that "today it doesn't matter I will just work harder on this tomorrow," almost immediately takes someone out of the constructive pattern.
The way I personally combat this weakness in thought is I push forward immediately on the activity and I shoot beyond my goal whatever it may be. I don't know if it is a gift of handling the lapse this way, but I have interviewed many others and I have noticed I begin to enjoy the new activity even more at this point.
Huge gift when you push through and decide IT MATTERS.
