Passion

Everyone does something better then the next 10,000 people. When I heard this yesterday I thought about some of the people I knew. I thought about myself. I thought really? Something better then the next 10,000 people?

There are so many people who have talents and gifts that are not being developed as they work outside of their passion. Their passion whether discovered or not relates to the thing that they do well that no other person does better.

What is it for you? Do you want to discover it? Everyone you would think would like to know what they are better then anyone they know at. This is simply not the case. I have a theory that even if people fully discovered the thing they are better then, the majority would still live out of alignment.

When I use out of alignment in the above paragraph I use it to say that if your day to day activities do not a lot for enough of an opportunity to allow your passion to come through you are out of alignment and your dream is slowly dying inside you.

Our passions are where our dreams spring from, if you can find an outlet for your passion that is consistent the creations that you will begin to enjoy are unbelievable. I don't know what your passion is, but if you find your passion you find your purpose, if you find your purpose you can define your values, and if you can define your values and find your purpose you can live daily with confidence and a hope that your grandest dreams can come true.

How can I make this claim? Because it is based on truth. If I have the passion, I know my purpose, I know what my rules are (values), and I have a hope (faith from successes and divine vision), then I am not bound by man for my dreams and neither are you. Your dreams are seeds planted from a much higher source.

Live your life so that you don't go to your grave having never sung your song.

Experts Get Paid

Are you an expert?

Here is a good test. . .

How do you know if you are an expert in your field of practice?
-Are you being paid in the upper 5% in the field? If you are not then you have not proven yourself to be an expert yet.

Okay that is the harsh reality, here is the relief. This is not a dead end zone. The beauty is that you can overcome this. You can be paid at the top of your profession, career etc.

It is the reverse of what most people think, there is always more room at the top of the pay scale then there is at the bottom. It's true, the bottom of the ladder is where a large percentage of the people in your field make their homes, the middle of the ladder is where the majority do and there is so much more wealth and space on top.

I write this today to declare war.

I declare war on mediocre mentality, I declare war on the idea that you can't make more than the company gives you. I declare war on the very prison that most have lived in regarding their lifestyle.

Poverty mentality says this is the ceiling the company doesn't pay more. That is not true, that is what you are making with skill set you bring. The company or market pays others more right?

So how do you break through the ceiling. I am going to put out the biggest jewel that has ever been and will ever be right now. If you choose to get on this path and do so intensely over the next 5 years of your life. Focusing your whole being on this one thing when the time affords. Making it such a priority that you don't get knocked off course. . .

Here it is. . .

LEARNING. . . Become a student of everything. This is what the child knows. They pick up on most things effortlessly because they are always learning.

Begin today, don't wait, find out what you need to learn and learn it. Thirst for it, hunger for the details, live passionately for the truths and in 5 years you won't even recognize the life you are living.

LEARN, READ, LISTEN, ASSOCIATE!!! WAKE UP!

Complacency is a Killer

It is a mindset to do just enough to get by. It is a battle I think all of us face in some area of our life. It becomes a habit and erodes away at the standards that we have.

You are never truly stopped in your growth or regression in life. You are either getting better or worse at the skills and talents you have been blessed with. There is an apathy that is at the root cause of being stuck.

I know there are a lot of people who have different definitions of apathy. I keep mine as simple as possible Apathy to me is the lack of love of whatever your doing being or becoming. The definition seems to fit for me.

The entry point for intervention of complacency is this- Many of us are good at things. The problem with being good at things is that it makes it real hard to be great.

I would put to the reader the main reason we become stuck is due to a standard we set or our "good level" we make a certain income level and we feel we are making it or "good". Money isn't everything I know but it is really easy to measure and something universally understood.

So you sit at a benchmark of "good" with your income. The moment you slip below that amount and detect that you are not making the same amount I guarantee you will fight like mad to return to that same level of income. The urgency will shock you. It may not be you that detects your income standard isn't as high as it should be. Someone else may help you to realize you are slipping in your income.

You want to know how simple it is then to build out of complacency?

You have to never be satisfied with the person you have become. It is not to say become neurotic. Here is the balance to all this. Be easily pleased but never satisfied. As soon as you feel you've arrived your standards are set and complacency and apathy sets in.

Strive for more. Set attainable goals that leads you to believe you can become more. There is something very righteous about understanding that your potential is God's gift to you, what you do with it is your gift to him.

Practice Makes PERRRRR . . .

Practice makes permanent. I know, I know-what you might be thinking: "that's not how the saying goes".

Practicing the right thing will make that stick, the same as practicing the wrong things. That is why Practice does not make perfect, it makes permanent. (Read this in a T Harv Ecker book the other day and thought that is so on point)

This is a bigger deal then simple semantics. I can remember playing competitive sports. The level at which I would perform in a game was greatly effected by the level at which I would give during practice.

The mind body relationship is amazing, and not, even with all the technology in existence, fully explored and understood. Your mind cannot fully grasp what is real and what is your imagination. This applies big time to practice making permanent:

Have you ever, for example, been so focused on something the whole day that when you lay down and drift of into that first level of sleep where you still are on the surface and you jerk into motion and you realize that you were dreaming about the activity you were so focused on the whole day. This was your mind hi-jacked and practicing making permanent what you set in motion that day, re-enforcing actions and results.

I can remember loving to play the sport basketball growing up. I loved that immediate result of seeing the ball travel out of my hand and go through the net and the high that came as I felt validated for my efforts. I loved chasing down a rebound and knowing not only was I positioned better then anyone on the court but I wanted the ball more, and was willing to hustle more for each. I loved the momentum of the team as we passed and worked for the shots that would crush the competition. I can remember the valuable lesson of the mind when I would slip off to sleep, my body might have been bruised from catching elbows, ankles wrapped with ice packs, arms tired from exertion but I would slip off into sleep and every so often jerk myself awake and realize my arms were practicing making a shot.

There is a huge lesson here. Every day you go through the mundane activities, every skill set that you are developing, every challenge you must overcome to get through to reward, you have to realize that there is permanent behaviors being etched into your character. It is a good question to always ask yourself, is the way I am approaching this the same way I would if the spot light was on me and I wanted to display peak performance; or: am I on the side of cutting corners and is just getting by becoming permanent here?

Get Another Job or Your Own Income Stream?

There will be a time in the majority of peoples life when what you are doing is not enough. Different stages of life provide new costs, new lifestyle desires. Whether this is wanting to raise your kids in a different neighborhood or with a different set of teeth (braces). This could be that you have one of your kids ready to go to school, or you want to go travel more.

Whatever the reason I want to say having experienced this drive to provide more outside of the primary income stream, and having gone and gotten the second job. The second job will only feel very short term needs.

I advocate strongly you consider building during the time you would be going and slaving away working for another boss, getting down to business. Real business, their are tons of opportunities out their that will fill your financial needs temporarily, but do your research.

I personally have found the dream part time business that pays full time money. There is no playing around with small income streams with the company I found to work with.

The key questions to ask when looking at any business are:

1) Is there a training system in place, many of us have been to school to specialize in the fields we do. A business was not probably the main focus, this is why it is so crucial to have great training opportunities.

2) Is there a need for the product or service you are providing, in the real sense of today's economy the need must be strong

3) Do you have an easy way to predict your pay example: if you do this___then this____ is the resulting income. It can become difficult to aim for the goals of why you began working on your own business without clear-cut ways to measure the new income.

4) Is there an opportunity to leverage your abilities. Can you duplicate yourself. If this does not exist then your part time income from doing extra with your own business will remain part time income. It is important to understand that you want to have a good income stream that flows when you are there and when you are not.

5) Can your business stand the test of time? One of the beauties of buying into a franchise or a larger company as an affiliate is that when you are starting your business you can compare and gain experience from others who have gone before you. (for other advantages see blog "If you want a flat tire re-invent the wheel")

You have the choice trade time for money to hit short term goals or build something smartly in your part time that can create income and time in the long term.

What Are You Looking At

Have you ever thought about the education system from High School Diploma to Doctorate. The amount of learning that gets condensed into a few short years.

Here is controversy. Even with the Continuing Education Units I am required to keep up in my field to carry my credentials they pale in comparison to the amount of work and studying that went into the degree initially.

I heard something from a mentor Mr. Chris Hughes, this weekend: "We allow people to work on degrees and knowledge they gained in 1978."

The crazy thing is he is 100% correct. It is true that people work on the job with new skills gained but when did the majority of the knowledge get crammed in their heads, the first few years of work, or from mostly theory based college courses.

I was realizing the other day as my son asked me "Where my candy is?" it had fallen on my sleeve and I said: "It is right there on my sleeve". I could tell at first he didn't know what the word "sleeve" meant, but he used his own observation station (his eyes) and saw the candy. Immediately he learned something new and I could see the connection of sleeve for him.

Chris Hughes went on to say that any "6 years of intense learning can change your whole course in life for the better." The key here is intense learning in the right areas. We don't even realize we are learning and remembering on a daily basis. My question I have to constantly ask myself is What Am I learning?

Try this as an activity to make this lesson stick, ask a good question of someone you admire. Ask them what books have made the biggest impact on their life. Not only is this a great question to get a deeper understanding of the individual, but I have found is a great compliment as well.

Finally I have to ask in the sense of learning: WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?

Believe in Yourself

One force will prevent you from acting. One force will provide you with excuses. One force will cause you to check out of your pursuits. One force will cause you to quit. . .

Fear of failure.

Who has to deal with this fear? Everyone. If you don't deal with this fear your probably not setting high enough goals.

Fear of failure is the exact opposite of belief in oneself. The only way to overcome the Fear of Failure is to:

1. Embrace it as normal- everyone fears failure
2. Hold onto the goal that is triggering the failure
3. Create simple action steps to attain the goal
4. Understand failure is a result the same as success is
5. Get into massive action driving toward your goals
6. Succeed and fail alike. Getting better with the successes and doing less and less of what fails
7. Make it a goal to know each night where you are in the process and set up steps to follow through with to never be there again
8. Believe in the power of compound interest. Each success adds momentum, compounds on itself and pushes you closer to goal.
9.You can do it. (affirm yourself) If you can see yourself accomplishing it you can do it.
10. Hold onto that image through the process and don't let the world take you away from that picture.

Expect your dreams to come true, know that success is inevitable and know that your creator did not create you to live out the stuckness of your fear. You were created to continue the process of creation.

Concious Non-sense=Subconcious No-cents

I just began mentoring someone that required some big picture thinking. She is fairly young and has some great goals and desires in business. I let her know of an underutilized resource of the LIBRARY. . .

I told her to have them hold Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad Poor Dad. I have read this book a few times but when I am coaching I will pick up the book I assign if it's been a while so that I am sharp and the other individual can receive the benefit of me being quite literally on the same page.

I realized the power of the mind in finances last night as I was re-reading Rich Dad Poor Dad. The book, if you haven't read it contrasts the philosophies of those who are wealthy and those who have little. It is an overall look into the two class system of Have's and Have-Not's. Jumping ahead to the point here. . .

The father that ended up poor when faced with paying for something constantly affirmed or calibrated as I like to look at it "I can't afford it". The wealthy father's response and calibration was "how can I afford it". The poor father constantly said to the mind when faced with a financial challenge shut down we are poor don't need to work toward creating the wealth for 'that'. The rich dad, while not rich at the time, had his mind set on do the work to come with solution on how we can afford that.

One mind getting increasingly stronger and the other weaker, one mind being challenged with a task, the other shut down and complacent.

The subconscious mind is like an amazing powerhouse of worker bees. It sits in wait for orders and goes to work immediately to follow through with what we send as orders. It does not discriminate whether the task is possible or not. The only time it interprets the task as impossible is if we feed it this order.

HUGE, this is so big, check it out. . .

The next time you are tempted to say I can't your right. Begin noticing this and just simply change the verbage around to HOW CAN I? Send your mind to work.

It is like Henry Ford said: Whether you think(the message) you can or you think you can't you are right.

Go Up To Go Out

When we perform anything in life there is optimum efficiency and there is unbalanced inefficiency.

One of the key factors of being in the "zone" is going up to go out. I don't know if this is something that you have heard before maybe similar. The idea is that what you do on a moment to moment basis intentionally has initial vision attached to it.

I have done various sports through the years, and they a lot of people can relate to them as an example. The times that I have really played well is when I saw myself doing well ahead of time, then I enjoyed running toward my vision of what I saw.

It is one of the hardest things in the world to stay maximum efficient all the time, but I want to say that with everything it takes practice. You can stop what you are doing right now and ask am I being intentional about what I am doing.

The very next task that you take on, the next game that you play. Envision yourself doing it in your minds-eye to the best of your ability. Hold this vision firm as you go forward giving no possibility to the chance of defeat. Then execute.

There is a study that was done of kids learning how to shoot free throws. One group was given the ball for a short period of time so they knew and felt the mechanics. The next group was given the ball solid for the next 30 days. The first group practiced making the shots in their mind the over the next 30 days. They had someone describe it over and over. The measurements were taken. The group who had the ball the whole time had less of an overall improvement then the group who made the free throws in their mind.

There is no substitution for hard work, yet it makes sense to use the one muscle that can cause maximum efficiency more. The mind.

Try it, envision right before you attempt and enjoy the results. It feels good to live out your vision.

Only in the Way We Think

Working today on the way we think about situations that occur. Your thoughts guide your emotions that guide your actions that guide your reactions. So many times we fail to understand this and go about reacting which is action begets action instead of responding which is action takes it birth in thought.

The problem most people have even when it comes to attempting to respond is that they return to faulty thoughts. This will lead them back down the journey to a similar finishing point.

The things we affirm will always come true. Part of the reason for 'protection of associations' is because we get influenced by others philosophies and if you want what they have think like they think and feel like they feel and then do what they do.

This is not puffed up, it is fact. If you want to get to the heart of it don't let your thoughts be set by man. Get into a higher level of thoughts through God. It is why praying or meditation is so vitally important.

Take the next task and decide to use a higher thought pattern, for me it is finding the stillness after I ask and am grateful God gives me guidance. The obstacles are not to be focused on they are to bring more value to the journey of the task as opposition be grateful. The journey will teach you more then the finished task. This was always inevitable with faith, the failures along the way were the lessons that you could not see as you looked at the completed task.

Confidence does not fully describe when you operate under a higher level of thinking driving emotions of endless power and energy, which result in actions that are congruent to the source of your thoughts and the results are the "impossible".

What the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve. What is planted in the mind and in the heart to accomplish from God will come to pass with or without us it will be us who decides to move forward as a conduit of this task or step aside and miss the opportunity.

The source of this is knowing I am nothing without him, but with him in purpose can accomplish his work for me to do.

The Value of a Book

Napoleon Hill in Think and Grow Rich speaks of the power of the Mastermind principle. The reason one would meet together with other people in this fashion is to create an extra mind that would not be available without the sum total of all the parties involved creativity. In Christianity a scripture defines this: "Where two or three are gathered in my name there am I also."

There will be times that your expectations of your purpose exceeds those around you. When this occurs it can be a difficult thing to maintain these expectations and not get pulled back to the earth by gravity. Keep aiming for the stars and practice the Mastermind Principle to assist you.

There are three things that can assist you to draw on the creative energies of the very best leaders ever to walk the earth and this is not a new idea. It takes some belief, some faith that this type of mastermind works.

Let me set this process up. Have you ever been engaged in a relationship with a mentor and you find yourself calling them a lot at first then you go to pick up the phone after a while and you know because of their nature and philosophy what they would say if you asked their advice. It is using this same creativity that you can employ the ultimate mastermind when those around you may not see your potential.

First off start getting more from the 3 things that make up most of the difference of that which influences you. 1) The things you see. Especially right now if there is to much negativity to be seen pick up a book and see through the eyes of a leader. I have a mentor Robin Sharman who says reading a book is like having a conversation with the author. Who are you currently conversing with? 2) What you hear. What are the things that have been crossing over the sound waves that you have been listening to lately? Learn out loud with audio programs, when you seek there will be an abundance of sources. 3) Who you are around. This is what I want to focus on especially asking that you the reader open your mind.

Who you associate with is so vitally important. If those that you are around don't expect your greatness to shine through. If you even sense that they don't appreciate your potential limit your time around these people. The vast majority are projecting there doubts on you. Spend more time finding the natures of the great leaders. Then. . . and this is so crucial. . . Start asking what would Disraeli do in this situation? What would Abraham Lincoln do if faced with this challenge? How would Edison go after solving this problem? How would Bill Gates think globally about this? What Would Jesus Do?(important) The more you ask these questions and less you check in with the doubters and what would they do, the higher your actions will come from.

This process will unfold for you eventually and create a Mastermind the level of realness of this mastermind will depend on you. The greatest leaders of all time will come through as a result of your FAITH in the process, DILIGENCE in the study, and CONSISTENCY in applying this.

It Matters

There are times that it is necessary to evaluate what things in your life needs to be changed. The answers can vary from person to person. It could be that you need to go the gym more, to save more money or work on a budget, to stop watching so much television, to connect more with family. Whatever it is there are times that things seem out of alignment and new habits need to replace.

This is a time that a set routine needs to go into place otherwise you will not make permanent change. The time most people choose to do these self-evaluations are the first of the year. The traditional NEW YEARS RESOLUTION. What do I not like last year that I can change this year.

I want to address the most crucial factor in sticking to these plans. It is the "It Matters" factor. The majority of people will get out of the routines that are healthy and producing results at the time that they feel like today it doesn't matter. It is immediately followed by various excuses to justify not following through.

I want to stress this point very strongly. This immediately puts a destructive habit in play. The "It doesn't matter if I miss today pattern". IT MATTERS!!!

There is a battlefield that all of us fight on daily basis. It is the battlefield of the mind. As Jim Rohn puts it "The Battle of the Mind". Habits such as giving into that thought that "today it doesn't matter I will just work harder on this tomorrow," almost immediately takes someone out of the constructive pattern.

The way I personally combat this weakness in thought is I push forward immediately on the activity and I shoot beyond my goal whatever it may be. I don't know if it is a gift of handling the lapse this way, but I have interviewed many others and I have noticed I begin to enjoy the new activity even more at this point.

Huge gift when you push through and decide IT MATTERS.

Laser Focus

What is the most crucial, time sensitive task you've got to get done today?

The problem with so many different planning programs is that the above question is mentioned once or twice, but not stressed to be the most important question.

The MOST CRUCIAL task should be the MOST focused on item. If it is bigger then what can fit within your day, do whatever it takes to advance it's progress and put together a plan to do more the very next day.

If you don't get the MOST CRUCIAL task worked on when you work on the LEAST CRUCIAL distractions, most of your energy will be split.

This relates to the 80/20 principle of time management. 80% of all that matters is only 20% of what you do. 80% of the work that gets done is done within 20% of the time. 80% of packing for a trip gets done in the last 20% of the day before you leave.

The way to become laser focused and feel confident is to get the 20% done at a high level of skill and attention and witness yourself blow through the other tasks of the day.

Look at your list today and ask what is the MOST CRUCIAL thing I can do right now.

Weeds and Seeds

When I grew up we had the Saturday chores which usually consisted of going outside and weeding. I knew that it would take until the afternoon early evening and that this routine would intensify when the summer came. I used to fight it at times but it didn't change the fact I still needed to go out and the weeds were going to show if I didn't.

There were other chores in the garden beds/flower beds to do but I can remember removing the weeds the most. I do remember the satisfaction of seeing the plants behind the weeds. I wondered why weeds always grew quicker then the plants. I also wondered why a weed of the same size as a plant was so much harder to pull then when I accidently pulled the plant.

These were lessons I was learning. I know my Dad didn't intend for me to learn these lessons directly, he probably wanted me to learn hard work, completing the job etc.

Here are the lessons that I learned later on though:
1) Weeds are negative, and they have negative seeds to spread. The same negativity fall out of peoples mouths from negative thoughts and spread like weeds.
2) It takes more work for the plants to outgrow the weeds, and it takes vigilance. Goals are like seeds and negative thought weeds need to be acknowledged (not ignored) and removed quickly. 3) If you don't keep your focus on pulling weeds consistently and in areas then it will be hard to see a consistent harvest. If your dreams are unfocused and you spread your efforts to thin the fruit of your labors will be mediocre at best.
4) It hurts to pull weeds at times they are hearty and have been around the garden longer then the seeds. The weeds of negative self-talk has thorns and is hearty and it has been around longer then the new seed planted too.
5) "If you pull the weeds from the top" my dad would say, "and you don't get the roots then the weed will be back in a week". If you don't work to heal from the negativity that is in your mind, and treat yourself with respect and affirm your good qualities then your negative patterns of thought will quickly return.
6) Setting the weeds on the ground and not cleaning up the mess is inviting there offspring to enter at a stronger rate. Associations and habits of defeat will re-enter if there are no boundaries placed about them, some things need discarding.

Thanks Dad for the lessons of the garden,

Breaking Free

Depending on the type of airplane being examined it takes an amazing amount of fuel to break free. It may take as much as 50% of the fuel used in an entire flight to achieve acceleration, lift off and the climb.

This is called escape velocity.

I love that Escape Velocity. The amount of energy expended to break free and combat the pull of gravity. This is crucial to understand for any of us who have had times that we have felt stuck in our business, or in our goals.

If you are like me you have accomplished some great feats, but you know where your vision lies for yourself and it is just not where you are. More frustrating than that is that the amount of progress has not increased exponentially like you expected. It takes setting out the goal, kinda like a new flight pattern and driving for it harder then you can remember your initial push.

Someone I know has recently had such a push this last year. Her story is inspiring. She has been a photographer for a few years now and she knew in her heart that she was gifted. Her town recognized her as such. She just had it in her vision to do the work for a specific demographic. She has some incredible pictures that puts her in the upper category of her field.

She knew at the beginning of the year as she looked at her goals she would need a different flight pattern. She got to work and promoted, set up promotions, put in the sweat equity and really drove for the opportunity to do shoots for her target populations. She re-invented herself and brought more value to her customers.

She has branded herself and established her work. More value allowed her to bring in the more value. She recently had a Grand-Opening for her studio and the results were amazing. She has broken free. (I included her link at the bottom of this article. Be sure to check it out.)

How did she do it?

I observed her becoming crystal clear about the future. It was so clear and in focus (no pun intended) that it seemed as real as the present. She put out the effort to achieve the escape velocity, and as she is now breaking free, and after seeing her hearts efforts in her works I have no doubt she will be flown to her clients shoots, and people will continue to travel the distance for her work. Congratulations ANN of Anniemations-Photography.

The Only Thing

There is something that is so important. . .

So vital that everything else will fall apart without it . . .

Your very interaction with others professionally depend on it . . .

Your relationship with your loved ones are effected deeply by it . . .

The only thing that matters when you say you will do something is the follow through in doing it. When you make a commitment and don't follow through, you become increasingly weak. You are out alignment. Out of alignment with your purpose, your goals, your destiny.

The only thing that matters in activity is INTEGRITY. I have found out the hard way admittedly and enjoyed the rewards of the obedience to this principle. It is an amazing concept. I recently heard it said by a mentor: "I even treat my wife and kids differently when I act with complete integrity."

The very best we can give is not all we can give. I honestly with all my heart believe that God helps those who are willing to help themselves. This does not mean we do it on our own. It does mean that we come to him after our BEST effort and ask him to help us make up the difference.

Here are a couple of tips for living with INTEGRITY:
Set attainable goals daily
Stretch a little further everyday
If you fail to reach the achievement of the goal ask for forgiveness of anyone else involved including yourself.
Forgiving yourself will allow you to put the past behind you like a wake of a boat and set your destination back on target.
Strive to go beyond the goal set everyday. It is the follow through every athlete knows about.
Finally understand INTEGRITY is the only thing that matters don't be swayed from your commitment.

Reject Rejection

Rejection and what it means to different people is a great topic for discussion. It is really a situation of whatever rejection means to you your right. To quote Henry Ford and apply it here: "Whether you think you can or can't you are right". We have been conditioned to place that decision in the hands of another individual.

The fear of rejection now becomes amazingly strong. If someone says we can't this becomes in scripted it amplifies the thoughts of doubt inside our minds already. Hope is dashed and we feel deflated.

I believe in rejecting rejection. There are a few thoughts that have helped me along the way to dampen the outside messages of rejection:

The first fundamental thought is that there will never be a President of the United States with 100% approval rating. In fact it has been for past campaigns over the last twenty years good numbers if someone has over a 45% approval rating. Do you see what that means over 65% of the population disagrees with what the most powerful office is doing. It puts it into perspective, there will not ever be everyone pleased with the direction you take either.

More powerful than this is that there is a huge part of the population that will be excited about what you are excited about. Being excited leads to being exciting and that is attractive. People will come from miles around to see someone who is exciting. Love your concept and live passionately.

The next thing is that many people are not awake when they give feedback. I have done it you probably have to. A person (maybe yourself) presenting an idea is much more invested than the receiver. The rejection could be mere unconscious insensitivity because it just is not the most important thing on the person receiving the messages mind.

The biggest part is that friends, family members, loved ones don't like change. It is not intentional many times but you fit nice and neat into a box for many of your loved ones. The moment you try something new, it appears scary for them and they cope with this fear strangely. Your ardent supporters can be your biggest opposition. It is not out of malice just out of fear.

These are just a few of the ways I attempt to reject rejection.

To Overcome an Excuse

Excuses involves the second strongest emotion that there is. Fear. It is important to start here first. If fear is not looked at when someone is stuck in the excuse then a solution for the problem may be attempted, but no long lasting change will occur.

Fear will always be the same as light and dark will always be. When you turn on a light how far does the darkness go? Not to far. Waiting for the time to come back. Fear involves all other emotions that provides for someone to be stuck. It is natural and can be embraced, and examined, or ignored, repelled and cause stuck-ness.

To overcome fear, there are a few paradoxes. When examining the reasons you fear growing it is like giving light to excuses you are attempting to avoid. This is a necessary step though. It allows you to do a cost benefit analysis. Because when the pain of not changing is greater then the fear of changing then the healthy change will win out.

This is one way many people overcome their excuses, they reach a level that the pain is too great not to do something about the situation. The problem is that this is another form of ignoring the fear until the situation cannot be denied any longer. The other problem is this can cause the unhealthy coping mechanisms of neurosis and other compulsive behavior just to avoid looking at the stuck-ness.

A healthier way is:
1) Involve a 3rd party (trusted)
2) Look on paper or verbally explore
3) Brainstorm about all the options
4) Embrace the fear of the situation (skill that warrants more discussion later)
5) Put together an option and commit
6) Set up a time to re-visit
7) Have a plan to involve the trusted 3rd party individual during the execution
8) Fail forward- Fail forward - Fail forward (John C. Maxwell's book is a great reference of this topic)

Did I mention Fail Forward, the reason most excuses occur is that people have the fear of failure, if like fear you embrace it as a part of the process then you are getting results not actual failures. The only way to fail permanently is to quit. "A body in motion tends to stay in motion" go and fail a little you will be unstuck over the initial excuse.

Excuses

What are excuses?

I am going to put what I feel to be truth, it is based upon practical results orientated research of mine and many others I have observed life.

Excuses are a way out. . .

Excuses are a way to explain where you currently are and because you have decided where you are and why you got there then you are acting naturally because you give yourself permission to stay there.

This type of thinking over time becomes a helpless downward spiral of becoming stuck and never doing anything to climb out of your current situation.

You will become less, set lowered standards, have less, and accomplish less as a result of the habits of excuses. Your confidence will wain, you will lose vision and you will become lost.

The energy and purpose in your journey will leave. These are bad symptoms. They come as a result of being out of allignment with your goals and God.

It is a belief that excuses are lies we give ourselves in order to feel stuck in the fear rather than walk in faith. The bitterness we feel in these times are a direct result of choosing death over life. As bleak as this sounds when we make excuses we walk closer to our grave then our manifesting our full potential.

What does it take to defeat an excuse?

To be continued . . .
