What an amazing event. I had people texting through out it; "Sorry I couldn't make it," "I had ____ come up". I just have to say. I feel sorry for them they didn't make it too. The two time Miss Black California brought the 300+ in attendance to our knees, to our note pads for some amazing nuggets of wisdom, and finally to our feet as she showed a clip of her overcoming the impossible.
What made our speaker so unique. Besides the fact that she is a single mom of two 9 year old twin boys and has fully retired herself from the corporate world and makes over six figures from home. Besides the grace, presence and character displayed as a public speaker. The beauty that is stunning as she walks into a room and is magnetic?
None of these are what amazes people who know this individual. She has overcome more than anyone I know personally and made it to the pinnacle of leadership.
She was paralyzed twice, two near fatal car crashes left our speaker without a possible chance of making it to her feet again. During her first accident she was modeling and acting at the time and when she was told she would never walk again, the agency she worked for said "you are out a job you are too attractive to play someone who is disabled". Wow!!! She decided to get fit and won some very prestigious fitness awards during this time. She also told her friends that she would enter to run for Miss Black California, to which one replied "You are in a Wheel Chair, maybe you should consider Miss Disabled California". Did she listen, no she became Miss Black California twice, performing the same dance routines in her wheel chair and letting her light so shine that they could not deny her beauty and amazing spirit.
She was on stage last night using only a cane and in high heels for two and half hours training and actually gave San Diego an extra half hour of her valuable time. With many more 'feats over many more painful experiences she was able to do the impossible. What was the difference?
The way she views life looks different. I could not keep up with the 1 percenters that allows her to be in the upper 3 % in income and success across the countries population but here are some of the few most important that I caught:
- Sometimes you have to attempt to balance while achieving, get unbalanced first in massive activity and then balance later.
- Any excuse will work, so you could just as well say I ran out of peanut butter, so you can both laugh about it move on and do better next time.
- Your excuses should be your reasons. Example: "I can't afford the training," think "I would not have this problem if I was trained well enough to bring more value and no longer have this problem."
- Your opportunity resembles a brand new carpeted room. You wouldn't let someone come in with muddy boots and stain the brand new carpets would you? She never let anyone do that with her business opportunity.
- Leaders are Readers, similar to the Jim Rohn philosophy "Do your best to get it all", and "You are paid by the value you bring to the market."
- Pray for the business professionals you are developing into leaders nightly, many are like family.
- Everyone has the same 24 hours. The WHY for doing working in business needs to drive urgency, before it is too late. (some will understand this, some won't).
The bottom line from the event last night is that there is no excuse that won't work, if there is not a more powerful reason to drive beyond it, and you can do anything you have placed in your heart to do with the Power of God who strengthens you.
